The proposed development will comprise the extraction of approximately 1,576,000 saleable tonnes of limestone, suitable for Type 1 construction aggregate, including approximately 50,000 tonnes of the local ‘Pury Stone’.
The New Pury End Quarry would be managed over a period of 6-7 years . A Recycling Processing Facility and ready mix concrete manufacturing would also be carried out on the site.
Access and egress of 101 truck movements per day would be directly onto the A5 from 7am – 5pm Monday – Friday, 7am – 1 pm Saturday.
'The proposal claims to increase local jobs however there will be only 7 to 8 workers employed on site and the Planning Statement states '...retaining the existing Heritage Quarry Group workforce'. Therefore there is a question mark over whether the new quarry will bring any new employment to the area or what benefit it will add for local people.'
